• Man this one is a beauty, and makes you believe “They don’t make ’em like this any more”! It is rare to find such a good example of a 70 year old Randall. This knife was featured in the Randall Knife Society Newsletter #14, April 1992!
• This model 4-5″ is in unused and unsharpened condition, very rare for this age of knife. It is the older style model 4 grind with a big deep belly. It seems the change in blade grind to a thinner style occurred in the late 40’s to early 50’s. Along with the deep belly is a long choil. The 5″ blade is a more manageable length for a field knife.
• The brass hilt is a bit abbreviated in size relative to later examples and the type was common during this period.
• The pinned stag handle is simply fantastic with a beautiful patina. The deep finger grips of the period simply put this one over the top and just make this knife a joy to hold. The bark of the stag visible between the grips is from this bygone era of Randall Made Knives. Also note the bevel at that butt, another 1940’s trait that has disappeared.
• The early Heiser riveted sheath is in excellent plus condition with no issues at all. Just about as good as you can get. The correct Washita stone is in the pouch.
• This is one of the finest model 4’s I have seen from the mid 1940’s.
