This is a fairly rare knife. Great handle of the sought after brown micarta with a single filled bolt hole, a sure sign of early production.
The named blade is a low “S” stainless steel showing a few slight blemishes/scrateches, but no serious distractions on this great piece. This is also an early example of a blade other than the recently introduced model 18 with saw teeth.

This knife has an overall patina from age, but is in remarkably good condition. You can bet the brass hilt has never been polished. I can’t say for certain it was ever truly “carried”,  say in a theater of combat, but does show light handling. So my guess is it may have seen  some field time.

The waxed Maurice Johnson “pancake” style sheath  it a testament to his skill as a leather worker.
