Early 2-7" From Original Owner!

I have gotten lucky in obtaining vintage Randall’s from the original owner, and this beautiful model 2-7″ is one of those. Impossible to improve upon.

  • I have gotten lucky in obtaining vintage Randall’s from the original owner, and this beautiful model 2-7″ is one of those.
  • The owner believes he ordered the knife around 1960, but the sheath is obviously an early to mid 1950’s model with a handle keeper, wide stone pouch flap, and the ubiquitous “corn rows” on the back of the sheath. I am not sure his memory is totally accurate, as that would put the sheath in the bin for at least five years if not more. Impossible? No, and it would be a rare case, but we have seen some strange things coming out of the shop.
  • The blade on this model 2 is in mint condition and retains the original Randall grind and finish. I would think it would be impossible to improve upon. Any apparent marks in the photos are ren wax applied to preserve the conditon of the blade. The blade also has the small Randall stamp, further lending to an earlier forging, but the ricasso area is not the often super skinny type found in early 50’s Randall’s. I believe this knife was finished quite a bit later after forging.
  • The original owner’s name is etched on the blade upsidedown! I don’t know how this came about, and it is also down in the middle on the bevel of the blade. “Normally” it would be located up by the center grind line of the knife. This is the type of thing that comes out of the shop that sets certain knives apart from others.
  • The standard spacer stack at the hilt and butt, with a duralumin butt cap and acorn nut.
  • The sheath shows virtually no signs of the knife ever being in it save for the slightest shadow at the throat. I do know this, it was not in the sheath for probably 50 years or more until these photos. Interestingly, the blade length is written in ink on the rear, also found on more than a few 1950’s vintage sheaths.
  • The sheath is in just superb condition with the classic “cornrows” on the backside, and the original Norton “box” stone in the pouch. The stone also lends itself to an earlier production knife, well sheath anyway.
  • The original owner is currently trying to find the letter from Bo that accompanied this knife. If it is found, it will be forwared to the purchaser.
  • This is a super model 2 and a really unique knife and sheath package.
