A relatively obscure model, this limited “special run”
is attributed to Navy/Marine air crews. Started in the 80’s and running in to the 90’s. The history is a bit cloudy, and it is believed there was initially a small run made, and subsequently on an intermittent basis. Orlando forged stainless blade and double brass hilt. The 5″ stainless steel blade has saw teeth, which is no longer available on a 5-5″ blade. A brass and black spacer stack sets this piece off.
Commando shaped black micarta handle and a brass butt with thong, round out this handsome knife.
The sheath was made by Greg Gutcher of Sullivan’s Holster Shop, not long after he became affiliated with Randall Knives. A Salmon stone in the pouch, completes the package.
Overall this is a great example of a Model 5-5″ with some tasty options, no longer available. The knife/sheath combo is in mint condition showing only a slight mark at the throat of the sheath from the hilt.
